Heart Disease
Heart disease is a term that covers any disorder of the heart and is the leading cause of death in many countries. It encompasses a range of diseases and conditions, including coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, congenital heart defects, and valvular heart disease. Heart disease is a major source of disability, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), and economic burden to individuals, families, and health care systems. Treatment of heart disease has seen tremendous progress over the past few decades and is estimated to save millions of lives every year. The approaches for heart disease include lifestyle modifications, such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and avoiding tobacco products; medical interventions, such as medications and surgical procedures; and preventive strategies, such as screening and lifestyle education.
