Nursing Geriatric nursing is the branch of nursing that focuses on the care of elderly patients. This specialty of nursing focuses on promoting the health and wellbeing of patients aged 65 years and above. Geriatric nurses have specialized knowledge and skills in geriatric care, including providing physical, psychological and emotional support to the elderly. Geriatric nurses also help to identify and manage the unique health concerns associated with aging, such as chronic illnesses and cognitive decline. By providing care and support to seniors, geriatric nurses can help improve the quality of life for elderly individuals, allowing them to age in place or in retirement communities with dignity, comfort and independence.
