Overview
Crisis intervention is an immediate and short-term psychological or social support provided to individuals during a stressful, traumatic, or distressing event. It is aimed at reducing immediate distress caused by the crisis, as well as providing individuals with necessary resources and skills to cope with the crisis in the long-term. Crisis intervention can take different forms and can be provided by a variety of professionals such as counselors, psychologists, social workers and medical personnel. It is especially important for vulnerable populations, such as individuals with mental health issues or those exposed to traumatic events. The goals of crisis intervention are to provide the necessary support and resources to individuals who are facing crises, enabling them to manage their psychological, social, and physical wellbeing.
