Overview
National security is a concept used to refer to the measures that a government puts in place to protect their citizens, resources, and territory from internal and external threats. Basically, the goal of national security is to safeguard a country from harm, ensuring that the country can successfully function as a sovereign entity. National security encompasses various elements of a country's security, including but not limited to military, intelligence, diplomacy, and national economic defense. These components work together to protect the country from various threats and challenges, ranging from terrorist attacks to natural disasters, cyber-attacks, transnational crimes, and border disputes. Ensuring national security is an ongoing process meant to assess, analyze, and address the changing nature of threats and vulnerabilities. Governments use various approaches to maintain national security, including intelligence gathering, diplomacy, defense budgeting, and strategic partnerships. Moreover, countries work with each other to encourage collaboration and cooperation in the security sector. International security organizations, such as the United Nations, play an essential role in facilitating cooperation between countries in safeguarding security. At its core, national security is about preventing harm and protecting citizens from potential threats, whether they are internal or external. national security is a priority for every government because a country that cannot secure its citizens and borders cannot function effectively.
