Overview

Monitoring and evaluation of sustainable development is the process of assessing the progress of sustainable development initiatives, such as development plans, policies and practices of governments, international organizations, and organizations within civil society. It helps to determine whether progress is being made towards attaining the objectives of development plans, programmes and policies and to identify if any changes need to be made. Monitoring and evaluation of sustainable development is essential to ensure effective management and accountability of resources, as well as to foster increased transparency and participatory decision making for promoting sustainable development. The process helps to identify areas for improvement, refine strategies, and measure outcomes in order to promote the long-term success of sustainable development initiatives.
