Advances in Glaucoma Diagnosis
Glaucoma is an eye condition that is characterized by damage to the optic nerve and can lead to vision loss. Advances in glaucoma diagnosis are crucial to detecting the condition early and preventing further degeneration. In recent years, technological advancements have enabled earlier and more accurate diagnosis of glaucoma, including the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to measure the thickness of the optic nerve and digital photography to assess the shape of the optic nerve. Additionally, researchers are exploring new methods of imaging and testing, such as ultra widefield imaging and genetic testing. These advances in glaucoma diagnosis allow for more efficient and accessible treatment, ultimately resulting in improved quality of life for those living with glaucoma.
