Prevention
of cardiac disease Cardiac disease is an umbrella term for a variety of conditions that affect the structure or function of the heart. Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death worldwide and are primarily caused by lifestyle factors such as smoking, lack of physical exercise, and unhealthy diets. Prevention is the most effective way to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease, and includes lifestyle modifications, management of underlying risk factors, and the judicious use of medications and interventional procedures. By following a healthy diet, exercising regularly, quitting smoking, and managing other risk factors, individuals can significantly reduce their risk of developing cardiac disease.
