Agricultural Entomology

Agricultural entomology is the scientific study of insects associated with agriculture. This field of study is important for understanding insect species that damage crops as well as insect species that offer beneficial services, such as pollination. Agricultural entomologists use a variety of methods to study these insect species, including taxonomy, life history, ecology, population dynamics, behavior, and management. Through agricultural entomology, farmers and other agricultural professionals can make informed decisions about the use of pesticides and other pest management practices, develop strategies for reducing crop losses, and increase pest resistance, increasing yields and profits.
