Eating Disorder Risk
Factors Eating disorder risk factors refer to any psychological, emotional, physical, or environmental conditions that can increase the likelihood of developing an eating disorder. These risk factors can include but are not limited to genetics, family and peer pressures, emotional issues, body image and self-esteem, and dieting behaviors. Eating disorders, if left untreated, can have serious and potentially fatal consequences, so it is important to be aware of potential risk factors in order to help prevent the development of an eating disorder. Early identification and treatment of risk factors can significantly reduce the risk of developing an eating disorder.
