Overview

The Eating Disorders Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) is an instrument used to assess the severity of an individual’s eating disorder symptoms. This questionnaire is the most widely used measure of eating disorder symptomatology and provides clinicians and researchers with an assessment of the severity of the eating disorder, as well as a way to track recovery and relapse. The EDE-Q is used to assess bulimia nervosa and other eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, and has been found to be a reliable and valid measure of eating disorder symptomatology. The EDE-Q is used to identify individuals at risk for an eating disorder, to assess existing cases, to monitor response to treatment, to provide data for research, and to identify relapse in individuals who have recovered from an eating disorder.
