Paper-based-biosensor

A paper-based biosensor is a low-cost, portable, and disposable device that can be used to detect viruses such as coronaviruses. Biosensors are analytical tools that can detect and measure biological compounds or substances. In the case of paper-based biosensors, they are made up of paper substrates with various chemical components that can react with biological molecules. One of the benefits of paper-based biosensors is that they are easy to use and do not require an external power source. This makes them ideal for use in remote areas or low-resource settings where conventional diagnostics may not be available. Additionally, the small size of paper-based biosensors makes them portable and can be used in point-of-care testing. The detection of coronaviruses using paper-based biosensors involves an antibody-antigen reaction. The surface of the biosensor is coated with antibodies that are specific to the virus. When a sample containing the virus is applied to the biosensor, the virus binds with the antibodies present on the surface. This binding results in a physical or chemical signal that can be detected and measured by the biosensor. Paper-based biosensors are becoming more widely researched and have major implications for the early detection of infectious diseases, including coronaviruses. They have the potential to provide real-time, rapid, and reliable results, which can be crucial for the containment and management of diseases.
