Neuropathology
Neuropathology is the study of the diseases and disorders that affect the structure and function of the nervous system. It encompasses the biologic, biochemical, and molecular basis of these conditions, as well as their impact on cognitive, behavioral, and emotional function. Neuropathologists use a variety of tools and techniques to diagnose and study neurological diseases and disorders. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus the importance of neuropathology in understanding the pathogenesis of coronaviruses. Neurological symptoms like headache, anosmia, and encephalopathy have been observed in COVID-19 patients, and researchers have found evidence of SARS-CoV-2 virus in the central nervous system. This has led to investigations into the potential long-term effects of COVID-19 on neurological function. The International Journal of Coronaviruses provides a platform for publishing cutting-edge research in neuropathology related to coronaviruses. Topics of interest include the interaction between SARS-CoV-2 and the nervous system, the role of neuropathology in diagnosing and managing COVID-19 patients, and the long-term neurological sequelae of COVID-19. The journal also welcomes original research, reviews, and case reports on coronaviruses from around the world. By promoting a better understanding of the neuropathological aspects of coronaviruses, the International Journal of Coronaviruses aims to support the global effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and improve the lives of those affected by neurological disease.
