Overview

The International Journal of Coronaviruses focuses on topics such as diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of coronaviruses. One of the most important tools in diagnosing this family of viruses is molecular diagnostics. Molecular diagnostics is a technique used to identify specific genetic material or biomolecules, such as RNA or DNA, in patient samples. This technique is highly accurate and sensitive, making it an essential tool in the detection of viral infections, including coronaviruses. In the case of coronaviruses, molecular diagnostics is used to detect the presence of viral RNA in patient samples, such as blood or nasal swabs. This is accomplished using a technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which amplifies the genetic material of the virus, making it easier to detect. PCR can detect a virus even in individuals who are not showing any symptoms, making it an important tool in surveillance and control of the spread of coronaviruses. Additionally, this technique allows healthcare professionals to quickly identify individuals who have been infected, allowing for prompt intervention and treatment. As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus, molecular diagnostics has become a crucial component in the fight against this infectious disease. The International Journal of Coronaviruses aims to publish the latest research on molecular diagnostics as it relates to coronaviruses, to provide healthcare professionals with the tools they need to successfully combat this challenging pathogen.
