Coronavirus Transmission
Coronavirus is a family of viruses that are responsible for causing various respiratory illnesses in humans and animals. The latest outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic, which has resulted in significant public health emergencies worldwide. The virus is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land on surfaces and objects, where the virus can survive for several hours to days. Transmission can occur when a person touches a contaminated surface or object and then touches their face, particularly the mouth, nose, or eyes. For this reason, hand hygiene is critical in preventing the spread of coronavirus. It is recommended to wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers. The virus can also spread through close contact with infected individuals. This can include having direct contact such as touching or shaking hands, as well as being within two meters of an infected person for prolonged periods, such as in crowded environments. Additionally, the virus can be spread by asymptomatic individuals who do not display any symptoms but can still transmit the virus to others. For this reason, social distancing measures are important in reducing the spread of the virus. In summary, coronavirus is spread primarily through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, contaminated surfaces or objects, close contact with infected individuals and asymptomatic carriers. Maintaining good hand hygiene and social distancing measures is essential in preventing the spread of the virus.
