Overview
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine originating in India that emphasizes holistic approaches to health through diet, herbal remedies, lifestyle practices, and mind-body techniques. Research published in the International Journal of Complementary Medicine examines both the foundational principles and modern scientific interpretations of Ayurvedic practices. Published work has investigated the nanomedicinal properties of Ayurvedic bhasmas—traditional metallic and mineral preparations—exploring how these ancient formulations may function at the molecular level. The journal has also addressed core diagnostic frameworks within Ayurveda, including the concept of Nidan Panchak, which encompasses five aspects of disease assessment used in traditional practice. Additional research has explored the biochemical mechanisms underlying pranayama, the Ayurvedic practice of controlled breathing, and has examined Ayurvedic approaches within the broader context of complementary and alternative treatments for cancer prevention. This body of work reflects ongoing efforts to bridge traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary scientific investigation, providing evidence-based perspectives on practices that have been used for centuries while addressing their potential relevance in modern integrative healthcare settings.
