Microbiology Environmental Microbiology
Environmental Microbiology is the branch of microbiology that focuses on the interaction between microbes and the environment. It focuses on microorganisms that live in aquatic and terrestrial environments and their interactions with soil, air, water and other elements. These microorganisms can be helpful, such as those that break down organic matter and produce essential nutrients, or they can be a potential threat, such as those that cause disease. Environmental Microbiology plays an important role in understanding the impacts of climate change and protecting ecosystems, human health, and food and water sources.
