Applied Microbiology
Applied microbiology is the application of knowledge obtained from the study of microbial ecosystems and organisms in various fields, such as environmental health and safety, biotechnology, industrial processes, bioremediation, food and agricultural production, and medical and clinical diagnostics. Applied microbiology is particularly important in the context of identifying, controlling, and preventing the spread of infectious disease and ensuring food safety. It has been used to create innovative solutions to many of the world’s most pressing issues, from antibiotic-resistant bacteria to climate change. By employing a variety of techniques, such as genetic engineering, bioremediation, and probiotic therapy, applied microbiology has the potential to solve many of the world’s most pressing problems.
