Overview
Squamous cell carcinomas are a type of cancer that form in the squamous cells, which are the thin, flat cells that line the tissue surfaces of the body. These carcinomas can occur almost anywhere in the body, but are seen most commonly in the skin, lungs, and throat. Squamous cell carcinomas are typically treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments. Early detection and prompt treatment of squamous cell carcinomas can be critical in achieving a successful outcome and a better quality of life for the patient.
