Scramblase

Scramblase is an enzyme that catalyzes the process of scrambling phospholipids into membrane-bound vesicles. It is important for the transportation and sorting of lipids from one organelle to another, as well as for the formation of cell projections, such as cilia. It is also used to create artificial vesicles for drug delivery and for studying transporter proteins. Scramblase has been found to play a role in the regulation of blood clotting, as well as in membrane repair and immune cell activation. All of these diverse functions of scramblase are essential for the proper functioning of cells.
