Overview

Ecological niches refer to the roles and positions that various species occupy in a particular environment. Niches influence the number and type of species present in a habitat, as well as the productivity and stability of ecosystems. Niches also determine how resources are distributed and used, and how species interact with one another. By understanding the role of each species within its niche, we can better manage our environment for the benefit of both nature and humans.
