Transfusion Medicine
Transfusion Medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the transfusion of blood and blood products. It is used to treat a variety of conditions, including anemia, blood loss due to surgery, and immune deficiency disorders. Transfusion Medicine is an important part of modern medicine, helping to save the lives of those in need who require blood for survival. It is also used to improve the quality of life of those who are living with chronic medical conditions, such as sickle cell anemia. Transfusion Medicine also helps to facilitate organ transplantation, as organ donors must have compatible blood type in order for the transplant to be successful. In addition, Transfusion Medicine is used to treat some types of cancer, by providing healthy blood cells to assist in the destruction of cancer cells.
