Thromboembolism
Thromboembolism is a serious medical condition in which a clot, known as a thrombus, forms and travels through the bloodstream. This can lead to a buildup of the clot in an artery or vein, blocking the blood supply to vital organs such as the heart, lungs and brain. Thromboembolism can lead to severe damage, including stroke, heart attack or death. Early detection and timely treatment are vital to prevent long-term health consequences. Treatment often includes anticoagulant medications, thrombolytics, and surgery if necessary. By recognizing the signs and symptoms of thromboembolism and seeking early medical attention, it is possible to reduce the severity of its consequences.
