Membrane Proteins
Membrane proteins are proteins that are found embedded in the lipid bilayer of a cell's membrane. They are integral to the proper functioning of many biological processes such as cell proliferation, cell differentiation and molecular transport. They serve as receptors, carriers, and enzymes that enable the communication between cells, as well as being involved in transduction, cell communication and signal transduction. These proteins play an important role in many physiological and metabolic processes within cells. Therefore, they are essential for normal functioning of the body.
