Invertebrate Zoology

Invertebrate zoology is a branch of zoology that deals with the study of invertebrates, animals without a backbone. Invertebrates represent the majority of the diversity of life on Earth and include insects, arachnids, mollusks, crustaceans, and many more. Through the study of invertebrates, scientists are able to gain a better understanding of evolutionary relationships between different species, and better conserve and protect many vulnerable species. Additionally, invertebrate zoology research is also used to develop insecticides, antibiotics, and new medical treatments.
