Overview
Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST) is a procedure used to determine the effectiveness of different antibiotics against a particular strain of bacteria. This test helps determine which antibiotic is the most effective for treating a specific bacterial infection. AST is an important tool for clinicians to optimize treatment and reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance. It is also used in research to study the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and to identify new antibiotics.
