Biotechnology Environmental Microbiology
Biotechnology Environmental Microbiology is the study of microorganisms' biological, physiological and genetic properties in order to use them for the advancement of environmental systems and bioremediation. This field of research is vitally important in the protection of our fragile ecosystems and the prevention of environmental damage caused by industrial activities. Microorganisms are increasingly being used for bioremediation technologies to improve the quality of contaminated soils, air and water. Microorganism-based processes are also deployed to enhance nutrient availability, reduce organic pollutants, and ensure the safety of food products and drinking water.
