Genotoxicity
Genotoxicity is the property of a substance or agent to damage DNA molecules in a living organism, resulting in mutations and other changes to the genetic material. Genotoxicity has been linked to a variety of environmental and dietary exposures and has been found to play a role in cancer, birth defects, and other diseases. Genotoxicity testing is an important tool to identify and measure the potential harm to human health from various agents, including chemicals, drugs, radiation, and other compounds. Genotoxicity testing is used to ensure that products are safe for human use and to predict potential health risks associated with any given chemical or substance.
