Intestinal Malrotation

Intestinal malrotation is a birth defect in which the bowel does not develop normally during pregnancy. It occurs when the intestines twist around themselves or rotate improperly during fetal development. Symptoms of this condition can include abdominal pain, vomiting, and difficulty in passing stool. Surgery is necessary to correct intestinal malrotation. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent serious complications, such as intestinal blockage, volvulus (twisting of the intestinal tract), and death. Intestinal malrotation is not very common but can have serious consequences if not diagnosed and treated promptly.
