Intestinal Atresia
Intestinal atresia, or bowel atresia, is a congenital disorder that affects the intestines, resulting in a blockage in the small or large intestine. It occurs when a baby is still in the uterus, but it can also be acquired later in childhood. The most common symptom of intestinal atresia is vomiting and it can cause a life-threatening situation if not treated promptly. Intestinal atresia is often diagnosed through an abdominal X-ray or ultrasound. Treatment involves careful surgery to open the blockage, as well as long-term nutritional support and follow-up care. Intestinal atresia is a serious condition and it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible to prevent complications and ensure the best possible outcome. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve a baby's prognosis and have a positive impact on the quality of life.
