Gastrointestinal Disorders
Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders affect the digestive system, encompassing organs from the mouth to the anus. Symptoms of GI disorders may include abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, gas, nausea, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, and/or heartburn. Common GI disorders include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and gallstones. Diagnosing and treating GI disorders can improve quality of life and prevent further complications. Treatment may involve dietary changes, medications, surgery, or lifestyle interventions. It is important to speak with a healthcare provider to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
