Overview

Colon adenocarcinoma is the most common type of colon cancer. It develops from the cells that form the lining of the large intestine, and is a malignant tumour that can spread to other parts of the body if left untreated. It is a serious illness, with signs and symptoms including abdominal pain, weight loss, change in bowel habits and rectal bleeding. Treatment often involves surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy, depending on the severity of the cancer. Early detection and diagnosis are key to successful treatment, so regular screenings are recommended for those at risk.
