Metabolic Disorders
Metabolic disorders are a group of diseases caused by defects in specific enzymes and/or pathways involved in metabolism, leading to either excessive production or inadequate breakdown of metabolites. These disorders can be genetic, acquired, or caused by an environmental factor and can range from minor disturbances to severe problems impacting health and well-being. Treatment depends on the particular disorder and may include dietary modification, medication, and/or lifestyle changes, among other things. Metabolic disorders are of great medical significance, as they can cause a variety of health issues, including impaired growth, organ dysfunction, and cognitive impairment, in addition to other symptoms. Early detection is essential for reducing the long-term effects of these disorders, making diagnosis and treatment a priority for healthcare professionals.
