Gene Expression
Gene expression is the process of transcribing DNA molecules into mRNA molecules and then translating mRNA molecules into proteins. It is essential for the regulation of cell functions and the development of complex organisms. By controlling which genes are expressed and how much each gene is expressed, cells are able to regulate their own functions, as well as the development and behavior of the organism as a whole. Because of its crucial role in the development and function of cells, gene expression is an important area of study in the fields of genetics and molecular biology. It can be used to gain better insight into fundamental cell processes, as well as to develop new treatments and therapies for diseases caused by genetic mutations.
