Glycan Binding Proteins
Glycan binding proteins (GBPs) are proteins that bind carbohydrates, also known as glycans. They are specifically involved in recognizing, binding and transporting glycans, allowing for their proper function and regulation in cells. GBPs play important roles in the body's immune system, pathogen recognition, cell signaling, and in processes related to the formation of the extracellular matrix. They are also important for many industrial applications such as food processing and drug development. Through their roles in recognizing and transporting glycans, GBPs are essential for the normal functioning and regulation of cellular processes.
