Virions
Virions are virus particles which are the infectious forms of viruses, consisting of genetic material (DNA or RNA) surrounded by a protective protein coat. They are essential to the underlying biology of viruses, as this coating helps protect the virus from the environment and aids in its transmission to other host cells. Virions play a significant role in modern medical research, as their structure and function is heavily studied for the development of vaccine therapies and antiviral drugs.
