Uniparental Inheritance
Uniparental inheritance is the inheritance of only one parent's genes. These genes are typically derived from either the mother or the father and are often passed on from generation to generation. Uniparental inheritance is significant as it can affect an individual's health, including their propensity for certain diseases and traits. It is used in medical genetic studies to better understand the mechanisms of genetic inheritance and to determine the genetic origins of health conditions and diseases. The knowledge of uniparental inheritance can also assist in the identification of inherited mutations and other genetic variants that can increase the risk of certain health conditions.
