Myelomas and Lymphoproliferative Diseases
Myelomas and Lymphoproliferative Diseases are conditions that affect the production and growth of white blood cells. These diseases, which can lead to anemia, abnormal bleeding, and even life-threatening infections, are caused by the abnormal production and growth of certain types of white blood cells known as myeloma and lymphoproliferative cells. Diagnosis of these diseases is critical and can often be done through imaging, blood tests, and biopsies. Treatment is also vital and may involve chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and stem cell transplants. With early diagnosis and the right treatment, many patients can go on to lead healthy and productive lives.
