Genetic Elements
Genetic elements are sections of DNA that can contain one or more genes and their associated regulatory elements. They are a fundamental component of all living organisms, as they facilitate the inheritance of characteristics between generations. In addition, they enable life to evolve over time as they are capable of being moved, duplicated, or deleted. The use of genetic elements has been instrumental in both medical and research fields. For example, they are used to develop crop varieties suited to certain climates, to prevent and treat genetic diseases, and to genetically engineer bacteria for production of drugs and enzymes.
