Evolutionary and Population Genetics
Evolutionary and Population Genetics is the study of genetic variation within and between populations of organisms over time. It examines the effects of genetic differences in populations of organisms across generations, as well as how populations of organisms adapt to changing environments. Through evolutionary and population genetics, scientists can better understand the causes and consequences of natural selection and the evolutionary processes that shape organisms, including human health, development, and behavior. This field of study is important for helping scientists develop strategies to address important biological challenges, from conserving endangered species to understanding the genetic basis of human diseases.
