Anaphase

Anaphase is a critical step in the process of cell division (mitosis and meiosis). During anaphase, sister chromatids, which are identical copies of each chromatid, are pulled apart from one another and are transported to the opposite ends of the cell. This allows for the cell to divide into two daughter cells. Anaphase is essential for the multiplication of cells, which allows for the development and growth of organisms, as well as for the maintenance and repair of cells. Anaphase also plays a role in the production of gametes and the genetic variation that is necessary for successful reproduction.
