Ameloblasts
Ameloblasts are specialized cells in the tooth that are responsible for the production of enamel and dentin, two important components of the outer tooth structure. They secrete organic components of the enamel matrix, which mineralize into hydroxyapatite crystals and form the hard portion of the tooth. Ameloblasts are essential to the development and maintenance of tooth structure, ensuring the strength and integrity of the tooth and protecting it against damage and decay. Their role in protecting teeth from decay and injury is vital for maintaining oral health and overall wellness.
