Fungi

Fungi are an incredibly diverse group of organisms that are vital for life on Earth. They are used extensively in the production of vital food sources such as bread, cheese, beer, and wine, and are also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and in the decomposition of organic material. Fungi play a significant role in the global ecosystem by breaking down natural waste, recycling essential nutrients and by providing food sources for animals. They are also essential in many agricultural processes, providing vital roles such as more efficient nutrient cycling, management of plant diseases and increased yields. Fungi also play an important role in the environment, with some species aiding in the formation of large natural carbon sinks.
