Salts

Salts are compounds made up of ions (positively or negatively charged atoms or molecules) that are formed when an acid and a base react with each other. Salts are important for many biological and industrial processes and are used in a variety of products, from food and pharmaceuticals to cosmetics and detergents. Salts are essential for the proper functioning of cells in organisms, as they regulate the water balance, pH levels, and the electrical potential of cells. They are also used as preservatives, to prevent food spoilage, and are a key component of many pharmaceuticals and medical devices. In addition, salts are also used to produce fertilizers and in the manufacturing of textiles, cleaning products, and paper.
