Micronutrient Deficiencies

Micronutrient deficiencies are when the body does not get enough of certain vitamins and minerals. These deficiencies can have a large impact on one's health, causing a wide range of symptoms and problems. Micronutrient deficiencies can affect both physical and mental health, leading to underdevelopment, increased risk of infection, stunting and impaired cognitive development. Micronutrient deficiencies are a serious public health problem and can be prevented by ensuring access to a balanced, nutritious diet. Additionally, supplementation and fortification of foods with micronutrients can provide a cost-effective way to reduce the occurrence of micronutrient deficiencies.
