Food Safety and Bioterrorism
Food safety is a critical necessity for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing disease. Bioterrorism, on the other hand, is the intentional use of biological agents to cause harm. The two topics are closely related because bioterrorism relies on contamination of food and water supplies to cause widespread illness or death. Food safety protocols are necessary to protect people from the potential threat of bioterrorism. To do this, producers and regulators must work together to implement preventative measures to protect food from contamination, from farm to table. In addition, governments, healthcare organizations, and the food industry must invest in bioterrorism preparedness to ensure the safety of food and the public. By prioritizing food safety and bioterrorism preparedness, this will benefit not only individual consumers, but also the global population.
