Environmental Contaminants in Food

Environmental contaminants are substances found in food, such as heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, and other pollutants, that can have adverse effects on human health when ingested in high quantities. These pollutants come from a variety of sources, including industrial and agricultural processes, as well as from naturally occurring substances in the environment. It is important to identify and reduce exposure to environmental contaminants in food, as they can increase the risk of disease and other health issues. Effective management of environmental contaminants can help to improve food safety, and thus protect human health.
