Overview
Constipation is a common gastrointestinal condition which involves infrequent bowel movements and difficulties passing stool. It can be caused by a variety of different factors such as diet, lifestyle choices, medications or underlying medical conditions. Constipation can lead to painful and uncomfortable symptoms such as bloating, abdominal cramping and feeling full. Treatment to relieve constipation may include dietary adjustments, increasing physical activity, medications, and in some cases, lifestyle changes. It is important to seek medical attention if constipation persists for more than two weeks to ensure that there are no serious underlying medical issues.
