Calorimetry
Calorimetry is the process of measuring energy changes involved in physical and chemical processes, such as those associated with temperature, pressure, and phase changes. It is an important tool used in the sciences to determine the energy changes that occur between a system and its environment. It is used to study the thermodynamics of a system, as well as to measure the amount of heat gained or lost by a system during a process. Calorimetry can be used in a variety of applications, including in the study of the efficiency of engines and other energy conversion devices, as well as in the analysis of the metabolic rate of organisms and the behavior of chemicals.
