Overview

Test A pregnancy test is a tool used to confirm whether a woman is pregnant. It can detect the presence of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in a woman's urine, which is produced when a fertilized egg has implanted in the uterus. The accuracy of a pregnancy test depends on both the sensitivity of the test and when it is taken in relation to the time when one is expecting to ovulate. Pregnancy tests are an integral part of family planning, and are important for the health and wellbeing of both the mother and unborn baby.
