High Risk Pregnancy
A High Risk Pregnancy is when a woman is pregnant with an increased risk of complications that could compromise the health of the woman, fetus, or both. High Risk Pregnancies are caused by existing medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or preeclampsia, and may be further complicated by genetic disorders, maternal age, and lifestyle risk factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption. Early identification of the High Risk pregnancy is beneficial in making sure that the mother receives the necessary medical attention and care that she and her baby need to have a healthy, safe delivery. Treatments may include lifestyle changes and extra medical monitoring.
